Each year for the last four years, Jave Fierro has gathered up her friends, family members, fellow Zumba instructors, and Zumba students, to put together a big Zumba party, benefitting The Michael Hoefflin Foundation for Children’s Cancer. (A cause that is close to Jave and her husband Anthony’s heart.) This year’s Zumbathon was held at The Warrior Fitness Camp in Santa Clarita. Over 200 Zumba Enthusiasts packed themselves into this great space for a night of dancing and sweating for a great cause.
My wife Johanna attended the Zumbathon last year and has become friends with Jave, attending several of her Zumba classes. This year, Jave asked me if I could provide a sound system and possibly some lights for their event. She wanted to make it a “Big Party.” I suggested, “why not have a live DJ mixing the instructors music?” She loved the idea and together, we succeeded in creating the biggest party the Zumbathon has ever seen. Five instructors took turns leading routines for over two and a half hours straight; however, the enthusiasm and love was just as high during the last song as it was during the first. I can only imagine what the 2016 Zumbathon will be like!
