I had an opportunity to volunteer my services to help a great cause recently. The SCV Senior Center held its annual fund raiser “Touch-A-Truck,” and I was asked to lend my voice, music, and equipment to liven up the festivities, hawk “opportunity drawing” tickets, and give away prizes. It is always a pleasure to work with the amazing people in my hometown and to help a great cause.
Touch-A-Truck gives kids (and adults) a rare opportunity to climb aboard, explore, and take lots of photos of large trucks and vehicles they would normally not get an opportunity to. There was everything from Fire and Rescue Trucks, to Monster Trucks, to a giant Dump Truck filled with beach balls that were ceremonially dumped out for the kids to grab and play with. In addition, there were vendors and organizations from all around the community selling, advertising, and donating their time, products, and services, with proceeds going to the SCV Senior Center.
Touch-A-Truck takes place in June each year, so check their website and Facebook page for next year’s event. Thanks to my “other” mom, Pat Willett, for asking me help out this year.
