Rebecca is a police officer in South Carolina. James was home on break from saving lives as a Flight Paramedic working around the world. James was on his way to his favorite bar with his drinking buddy Fred. Rebecca pulled James over for speeding on his way there. Was it James’ smile, his personality, or his wingman Fred that captured Rebecca’s heart at that chance meeting? Whatever the reason, Rebecca gave James her phone number, along with a speeding ticket, and on their second date, they ate Fred. (Did I forget to mention Fred was a chicken?)
A love story like this is one every Officiant and MC lives for because you know the wedding is going to be an interesting one. I have known Rebecca for years, and we kept in touch through Facebook. One day, she posted, “I have everything booked for my wedding except for my Officiant.” I answered back, “I’m ordained. Where are you having your wedding?” Thinking it would be in South Carolina, I did not expect the answer to be Pasadena. Next thing I knew, Rebecca and I were talking about me not only officiating their wedding, but DJing it was well. Rebecca and James wrote an amazing ceremony with a traditional Celtic Hand Fasting. The ceremony under the big oak tree was absolutely beautiful.
Their venue, Happy Trails Catering, was not what you would expect to find on a busy street like Fair Oaks Avenue. However, behind this red brick building, is an oasis of trees, grass, and plants that made a perfect backdrop for this garden wedding and reception. While there wasn’t dancing, partying, and they typical revelry associated with most weddings, this “Brunch and Cake” reception where guests could just mingle and talk with each other was exactly Rebecca and James’ wanted. Everyone has a wonderful time, and they will never forget the beauty, the comedy, and the romance they witnessed that day.
