I was thrilled to be asked to MC/DJ my cousin Danny’s wedding this past Saturday. It was held at Occidental College in Los Angeles. The wedding ceremony took place in the quad outside the dining hall, and it was beautiful. Watching the bridal party descend the giant staircase behind the wedding arch was magical. After the ceremony, everyone proceeded to the terrace for a fun cocktail hour then into the dining hall for the reception.
A unique touch Megan and Danny added was using a raffle drum filled with marked ping pong balls to excuse everyone to the buffet. Unusual ways of excusing guests not only captivate the crowd but keeps guests in their seats instead of crashing the buffet line out of order. After dinner, the guests danced, partied, and had a rocking good time both inside the dining hall and outside on the terrace.
One thing we added that made a huge difference was up-lighting. As you can see in the photos, they made such an impact and were so bright; we did not have to turn on the overhead lights at all until the end of the night. Adding up-lights can really turn an ordinary room into an extraordinary event space.
