Overlooking Long Beach Bay and the beautiful Rainbow Bridge is The Harbor View Room at The Reef in Long Beach. It was at this perfect setting that Jennifer and Richard had their wedding reception. 200 guests piled in the air-conditioned room, thankful to be out of the July heat. They were so energetic, it made the Grand Entrance absolutely epic! Upon entering, Richard picked up the microphone and thanked all the guests for coming, then asked Jennifer to dance their first dance as husband and wife.
The fun kept right on going. With congratulations going out to two guests who missed their own Master Degree Graduation Ceremonies to someone celebrating a birthday, I knew this crowd was ready to party hard. As soon as the meal was finished and the incredibly sentimental parent dances were through, we packed that large dance floor to the point that it was overflowing and kept it packed all night.
However, the night was not without it’s touching moments as well. During the set-up for the Married Couples Dance, I ask everyone how long they have been married, and I counted up from 5 years, 10, 20, 30, etc. When I got to 50 years, one couple (who I found out was Jennifer’s Aunt and Uncle) still had their hands up. I finally asked them “how long have you been married” and the answer was 60 years! Also, Jennifer’s family was Italian and Richard’s family was Filipino, and I was able to get both sides of the family involved in some “cultural” dances. First, everyone danced the Tarantella around Jennifer and Richard, and then they all did the Electric Slide, followed by the Cupid Shuffle. Everyone had a blast dancing all night, and we finally ended the party with big blow out and, of course, a group hug!
