It’s funny how one’s original vision for their wedding often evolves. Jenna and Geoff just wanted a small, intimate wedding. Maybe a destination wedding with a slightly larger after-party somewhere. However, when they started compiling their guest list and realized that they couldn’t trim it down under 150, the next thought the two of them had was…we better start planning a bigger wedding! The first step was to find the perfect venue. They fell in love with the beautiful and newly renovated Sand Canyon Country Club. Andrea, the venue coordinator, worked so hard to ensure they were happy. They brought a delightful ceremony coordinator on board, and Kim Miller not only organized their walk down the aisle but made the ballroom pop with the most detailed décor items and a fabulous looking dessert table. The multi-media was all handled by RBR Photography. These guys (and gals) were amazing. They did the photography, videography, photo booth, salsa instructions, you name it! (Ok, I might have exaggerated a little bit, but they were awesome to work with!) It was a delight working with such an amazing team. We were ready to help Jenna and Geoff have the wedding of their new dreams.
It was a windy day but that just made Jenna’s descent down the ceremony patio’s staircase that much more dramatic. The ceremony was lighthearted and fun and ended with “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” by Stevie Wonder as they made their way back down the aisle and onto the party. After the Grand Entrance, Geoff retold the story of how he proposed to Jenna in the Boston Commons and her answer of “FINALLY!” They danced and then it was onto dinner!
There are times you can just tell a group is going to be a “party crowd,” and it was no trouble at all getting all 150 of them up and onto the dance floor. In fact, the biggest trouble was figuring out how to stop them from dancing to move on to the cake cutting and bouquet toss! The transitions came in the form of sing-alongs. Jenna and her girlfriends from the bachelorette party wanted to perform a few hits from their time together. They sang and danced to songs like “Proud Mary” (complete with choreography), “Hold On,” “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now,” “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now,” Sweet Caroline,” “Your Love,” and the finale “I Will Always Love You.” It was just crazy, and the guests loved every second of it! They also loved the smattering of Boy Band songs we played from Backstreet Boys, N’Sync, and even New Kids On The Block!
When it was finally time to wrap up their extended reception, we gathered up everyone who was still there and realized almost no one went home. (And this was a SUNDAY reception!) The closing circle was epic as they danced to “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” by Elton John. I don’t think anyone will forget what an amazing time they had celebrating with Jenna and Geoff!
