From the moment I met Hannah and Dan, I knew I wanted to be a part of their wedding. More so, I wanted to tell their story. These two met back in High School in a Sports Medicine class. He was grading her on her skills to tape up an ankle, and she thought he was just being sweet. Dan kept practicing (on his brother) to “pass the ankle taping timed test,” when in reality…he was just trying to impress Hannah. He decided to ask her to prom by writing out his invitation on a roll of sports tape. It is no surprise that both Hannah and Dan went into the medical field. What is surprising is that they kept their relationship “stuck” together on opposite coasts through college. Over nine years from that Prom invitation, the doctor and the nurse bound themselves as one.
The ceremony took place at Calamigos’ Little White House and was beautifully decorated by Karim and his crew from My Wedding Blooms. Kat Keane and her assistant kept everyone and everything running perfectly on schedule throughout the night, even leading the guests from the ceremony to the cocktail hour in the Polo Room. Steven, the room captain, did a fantastic job as always ensuring absolute perfection from the appetizers, through the salads, to the main entrée…and everything after. Michael Farmer’s Photography and Videography crew were super efficient and a pleasure to work with. They were everywhere capturing all the wonderful moments of the night. It’s such an honor to work with all these outstanding wedding professionals, and Hannah and Dan deserved nothing but the best from the team they so carefully assembled.
One of Hannah and Dan’s primary concerns were their conservative families. The two of them were a little on the shy side, but they loved to dance and have a good time. They asked me to help them throw “as fun of a party as they can.” Well, it was an incredible moment when all 115 of their guests moved from their seats to the dance floor and found their inner party animal once the dancing got going. We almost had to kick everyone off of the dance floor so we could move on to the rest of the formalities. We did a married couples dance to transition from the dancing to the cake cutting. When asking everyone who has been married 10 years, 20 years, etc., I was surprised myself when I got to 50 years and one couple said “keep going!” Hannah’s grand parents have been married 60 years!!! I asked them all to dance real close to each other so some of that longevity could rub off on the newlyweds.
As the reception moved into the “After Party,” the dancing continued for over an hour. When we tired everyone out, I asked everyone to come out to the dance floor for one last goodbye. Well over half of the guests were still there to watch Hannah and Dan do their last dance. What made it even more magical was everyone started singing along with Thomas Rhett’s “Die A Happy Man.” Of course, I wasn’t about to let this newly revived energy go to waste and switched back into party mode for a couple of encore songs. As you can see by the photos, the party went on and on until the absolute end. I was so happy I could help Hannah and Dan make a new and lasting memory to add to their story.
