Christina & David’s Wedding – June 2nd 2018

It’s funny how a series of coincidences and missed opportunities can place you exactly where you were meant to be. I did a wedding last September for a wonderful couple, Lacey and Adrian, who hired their friend Christina to be the coordinator at their wedding. Christina and I got along great at their wedding as we made it a perfect day for the newlyweds. Christina and David got engaged sometime after that day, and when it came time to pick out her vendors, she remembered how much fun she had as the coordinator at her friends’ wedding and reached out to me. Coincidentally, I was going to make plans on the weekend of her wedding, but due to a bout with the flu, I put off solidifying those plans for a week. Guess who called me and asked if I could help her and her fiancé out during that week? I met with Christina and David at their venue, Quiet Cannon in Montebello, to get to know them and the vision they had for their wedding. Hearing their story of how they met and became friends in 8th grade but never dated until after high school showed me that a series of missed opportunities can result in being exactly where you were supposed to be.

The setting for their wedding ceremony was on the lawn across from the ballroom overlooking the San Gabriel Valley. Christina’s stepfather (who recently came into her mom’s life) performed the ceremony. He had never done a wedding before, but he took his inspiration “right from the source” he stated as he held up his bible.  Was it another coincidence or just great luck that Christina’s God Mother worked at Quiet Cannon and was able to be both a guest and help coordinate the wedding as they took the walk down the aisle? I’d just chalk it up to another blessing bestowed on Christina and David.

Their photographers from All Our Wonder knocked out their family and romantic shots after the wedding so quickly that Christina and David were able to join their cocktail hour out on the terrace and spend some time drinking and talking with their friends and family before they made their big Grand Entrance into the Crystal Ballroom. They took their first dance steps as husband and wife on a big white dance floor that complimented the all white, silver, and green motif of the room perfectly. It wasn’t long before their guests flooded out to dance with them as well. (In fact, they overflowed that dance floor!)

Christina and David weren’t too concerned with structure or a strict adherence to a timeline. They wanted go with the flow and to keep things casual.  In fact, they brought in a wedding cake at the last minute, but they decided not to make a big deal by cutting it and just let the staff at Quiet Cannon serve it up during the last hour of the party. Their photographers were right there for them all night but never pressured them into doing anything that would take them away from just having fun. When they were done with their contracted time and all of the formalities, they even stuck around and danced with Christina, who didn’t leave the dance floor ALL NIGHT! Christina and David said it was the perfect night, and they knew they made the right decision by calling me. By the looks of the photos from the last song, I’d say they would have been fine with or without me! (But I like to think I helped create that and many other memorable moments they will cherish for the rest of their lives.)
