Chelsea & Drenan’s Wedding – Saturday, September 14th

I was introduced to Chelsea and Drenan through their amazing event planner, Priscilla from Eyesome Events. From our first meeting over pie, I knew this wedding was going to be a sweet one! Meeting Chelsea’s parents, Aprille and Chuck, during the final planning meeting made me feel like I was already becoming a part of their family. The day of the wedding, everyone was buzzing around the spectacular and newly renovated 1 Hotel West Hollywood to prepare for a night no one would forget.  Chelsea and Drenan chose to have their ceremony inside (and out of the September heat) in front of a window with the most breathtaking view of Los Angeles behind them. However, between the meaningful vows, the traditional Celtic Hand Fasting Ceremony, and the live music, the real stars were shining inside.

Chelsea and Drenan wanted to have some real fun with their Grand Entrance. Each couple (from the parents and grandmothers to the bridal party) chose their own songs to enter to. Some couples really got into their song! Chelsea and Drenan entered the room, thanked their guests, and danced to “Harvest Moon” by Neil Young with the actual Harvest Moon shining in the window behind them. The song then blended into “How Sweet It Is” by James Taylor, and they invited their guests to join them on the dance floor. Seconds later, the dance floor was packed, and we opened up with a set of dancing before the salads were served.

The rest of the evening ran like clockwork thanks to Priscilla and her team as well as the fantastic staff at the 1 Hotel. When it was time to open up the dance floor for the second time that evening, there wasn’t an inch of space left. The guests partied all the way till midnight. Just before we played the last song, Chelsea and Drenan, surrounded by their friends and family, had one last slow dance to “Grow Old With Me” by Adam Sandler. After the final set, I threw in a surprise song that was a “Must Play” Chelsea told me about at our first meeting. Her family has a long inside joke with the song “Palmdale” by Afroman. It was hilarious hearing everyone in West Hollywood sing the praises of their neighbors to the north. It was a fun filled night for all.
