High on a hilltop overlooking Thousand Oaks sits St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church. With a dining hall that can be rented out, this beautiful location was the setting for Briana and Zach’s wedding reception. Briana and Zach were married on Monday, October 6th on board a cruise ship just off the coast of Catalina Island. Their close friends and family were with them for the ceremony. Upon their return, they had a big wedding-after party planned for all their friends and family to attend.
After a fun Grand Entrance and a touching first dance, Briana and Zach released white doves in memory of those family members who could not be with them on this day. After a delicious BBQ dinner, the guests all got out to the dance floor and kept it packed for the entire night. The music ranged from Top-40, to Old School, to Line Dances, and everyone seemed to have the time of their lives.
Briana and Zachary’s wedding was a classic example of how you can turn an ordinary space like a church hall into a personalized and beautiful setting for a wedding using a simple theme. The “Cruise Ship” motif was used throughout the decorations, from lifesavers on the doors that said “Briana & Zach,” to photos of them onboard the ship, to the custom drinks at the bar. Everything fit together perfectly, without being overdone or cheesy. In this world of DIY weddings, picking a simple theme and running with it can make the difference between a personalized wedding and a cluster of ideas that have no cohesiveness.
